• Arctic Slope Regional Corp. has appointed Kenneth Asbury president and CEO of ASRC Federal Holding Co. Asbury has more than 17 years in executive leadership positions in the defense, intelligence and civilian marketplace. He spent the past three decades at Lockheed Martin, most recently serving as president of three operating units and vice president of capture excellence. The National Management Association honored him as National Executive of the Year in 2006

• Art Reed , Anchorage terminal manager for Sourdough Express Inc. , was elected president of the Alaska Trucking Association at the group's recent annual meeting. Reed will serve until next April along with first vice president, Jim Scherieble , general manager for Kenworth Alaska ; second vice president, George Lowery , T otem Ocean Trailer Express ; and secretary/treasurer Scott Hicks , Anchorage terminal manager, Alaska West Express .

Two new directors to the board are Bill Meszaros , vice president, Pacific Alaska Freightways , and Wes Vander Martin , vice president and general manager, Anchorage Sand and Gravel .

Meeting highlights included the awarding of the Alaska Safe Truck Fleet of the Year to Alaska West Express, and the Alaska Safe Truck Fleet Most Improved to Carlile Transportation Systems.

• The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has hired Gary Shaw as the Alaska Native Medical Center hospital administrator. Shaw comes to ANMC from Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, Del., where he had served as vice president of operations since 2006.

Shaw has led quality and financial maximization efforts as an administrator, CEO and COO at many hospitals in rural and urban settings. He has implemented quality of care and patient safety measures at multiple organizations, and has focused on staff morale and teamwork.
