22: James Bond , from 1962's Dr. No to 2008's Quantum of Solace. And No. 23 reportedly is in pre-production.

12: Friday the 13th , from 1980's Friday the 13th to 2009's Friday the 13th reboot, although the number includes 2003's Freddy vs. Jason, which was a commingling with the Nightmare on Elm Street series (see below).

11: Star Trek , from 1979's Star Trek: The Motion Picture to 2009's Star Trek reboot

11: The Pink Panther , from 1963's The Pink Panther to 2009's The Pink Panther 2 in the rebooted series.

10: Halloween , from 1978's Halloween to 2009's Halloween II in the rebooted series.

9: A Nightmare on Elm Street , from 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street to 2010's A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, although the number includes 2003's Freddy vs. Jason .

I bet you’re expecting more Friday the 13th jokes from us.  Well TOO BAD– not happening.  In fact, we proclaim today to be your lucky day– ‘cuz there’s tons of ways to get gone in the big ol’ city tonight.

TONIGHT (FRIDAY):

Let’s talk about the huge, hulking, Japanese rhinoceros in the room.   GUITAR WOLF is billed at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn with Nashville makeup punks CHEAP TIME .  That does sounds like a nice little bill.  I’ve heard conflicting reports as to whether this incarnation of G.W. is worth its salt, but it’s worth a shot and Cheap Time are always a good choice. Little pricey and not sold out… yet. $15 online (?) and $18 at the door.

Our own Captain Heartlock alerted me to a band new to me entitled THE LIVING KILLS who are at Williamsburg’s Public Assembly tonight releasing a record.  ”Combo organ psych” is the descriptor given and that sounds just alright. $6

Over at the Suffolk in the city, you’ll find long haired 1964-style rockers THE BEAT RATS doing their thing for free.  Let’s hope noone gets chased out of there this time!

If you’re feeling like staying at home tonight, why not choose to stay at someone ELSE’s home?  That’s right, there’s a Friday the 13th party at The Church (where else?) with disco psychers DISCOVERY as well as other aural treats from bands such as JUICY BRUCE and THE LOVELY .  DJs will be on hand to groove you and there’s only a $5 donation asked to keep the good times going.
