I remember when Animals Best Friends rescued Buffy. She was one of several border collie puppies at the Independence Animal Shelter and all of the other pups were taken by Border Collie Rescue. Buffy was left behind because she had mange and an overbite. We fell in love with her and rescued her. Her mange was treated and she grew into the sweet, pretty, wonderful girl that she is today. Buffy is four years young. She has a beautiful black, smooth coat with white accents on her feet, chest and face. Buffy has been leading a somewhat sedentary lifestyle lately, so she is overweight. This can be remedied with diet and exercise. She is completely house trained and lets her foster mom know when she needs to go outside. Buffy has not been around small children very much, so she is apprehensive around them. She likes people and gets along well with her canine foster sister. Buffy needs to be placed in a home with adults who have the time to work with her. Although she has good house manners and is very gentle, Buffy would benefit greatly from obedience training. She might eventually enjoy jogging or running. Agility isn’t out of the question, as many dogs at different ages enjoy the challenge of training and agility. Dogs Buffy’s age are great! Buffy is mature enough to know not to chew up things, yet she is young enough to enjoy playing with toys. Puppies are cute, but they pee on the floor and chew up the furniture. At four years old, Buffy still has the capacity to learn new things. Buffy is sweet, smart and loyal and would make a fabulous pet for a young adult or a couple of empty nesters. She might also fit into a family with older children.

Meet Jessie, an attractive sable and white border collie mix puppy. She is almost 4 months old and weighs about 16 lbs. A medium coat, she is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, and ready for her permanent family! Jessie and her sisters were turned over to rescue by a family who had a purebred border collie that "accidently" got bred by the neighbor's dog, who they claim is a border collie. However, they did not realize that a female can have puppies from different fathers, and Jessie and her sister Jill may be from one mating, and Jazmine is most likely from the border collie male. The puppies are very well socialized as the family had a number of young children. They are learning to be house trained and walk on a leash, and are happy and friendly puppies. Jessie is the most shy of the three of them, but she quickly warms up to new people and loves to be handled and petted. These puppies will make wonderful companions for an active family.
