Petra Solar presents national "smart solar" plan for Jordan; signs MOUs for up ...

"Let Jordan Shine" Proposes a combination of solar and smart grid technology. The company has signed three initial agreements for the development of up to 200 MW of PV, as a first step towards the development of the plan.

“A robust and diverse energy portfolio is critical to solving Jordan’s energy and economic challenges for many years to come,” said Petra Solar President and CEO Dr. Shihab Kuran.

“Creating a Smart Solar industry in Jordan is very feasible, and will help usher in an era of employment and economic prosperity that will put Jordan on the map in this important field."

The company also states that the plan will create a more sustainable future for Jordan by replacing a portion of Jordan's imported energy with locally developed and produced solar power.

MOUs for 200 MW of PV signed

Petra Solar notes that it has signed two strategic business agreements during the forum, as a first step in the plan.

The first agreement is a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kingdom Electricity Company (Amman, Jordan) to explore the development of a solar and smart grid project with a generation capacity of up to 50 MW.

This project will still require the approval of Jordan's Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The second agreement is an MOU with the Governate of at-Talifah, which Petra Solar says will lead to the installation of 75 MW of its "smart" PV solutions.

The company earlier signed an MOU with the Governate of the region of al-Karak to develop a further 75 MW of "smart" PV.

Plan to involve utility/customer partnerships

Petra Solar has developed a model for the coupling of solar generation and smart grid technology with its SunWave system.

As with the SunWave system, the plan for Jordan involves the active participation of utilities, who would partner with customers to deploy utility and consumer-owned smart solar energy systems on both utility and consumer assets.Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Ltd.

The company also notes that the "Let Jordan Shine" involves the use locally assembled and manufactured products, and that the plan will involve the collaborative efforts of academia, local research and development institutes, industry, services, banking, and legal and regulatory decision makers.

Candy Spelling’s mansion reportedly Sold to Petra Ecclestone

The Candy Spelling Mansion in Holmby Hills (Los Angeles, CA) was sold Tuesday to the 22 anni heiress to a Formula One racing fortune.

Petra Ecclestone, daughter of British billionaire and F-! racing boss Bernie Ecclestone, reportedly bought the 57,000-sq ft Los Angeles mansion.

Though the sale price was undisclosed, the mansion, listed has been listed at US$150M, was the most expensive single-family home in America.

The property in Los Angeles’ Holmby Hills known as “The Manor,” sits on 5 acres, and has such luxuries as a bowling alley, a 17,000-square foot attic with a barbershop and beauty salon, a flower-cutting room, a gift-wrapping room, an in-home theatre, a wine tasting room and parking for 100 motor cars.

There is also a “Prince Charles Suite” and a library that houses Aaron Spelling’s bounded scripts from TV shows he produced such as “Mod Squad,” “The Love Boat,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Dynasty,” “Starsky and Hutch” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

The Spellings purchased the property early in the 1980’s, razing the existing home (formerly owned by Bing Crosby) to build the 123-rm French chateau-style Mega-Manse in Y 1991.

Candy Spelling said the mansion is “too big just for me.”
