Local troops complete military training
Navy Seaman Gabriel P. Donajkowski has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Ill.
His eight-week training program included instruction in naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, shipboard and aircraft safety, and physical fitness.
Donajkowski is a 2004 graduate of Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy and a 2008 graduate of Mercyhurst College.
He is the son of Louanna and Roland Donajkowski, of Erie.
Army Pvt. James D. Lord has completed basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
During his nine-week training course, Lord received instruction in the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training.
His regimen included training in drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy and justice, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Lord is the son of Dawn Johnson, of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Jamie Lord, of Erie.
Lord graduated in 2008 from Central Tech High School.
Nicholas S. Ketcham has been promoted to specialist in the U.S. Army National Guard.
Ketcham, a construction equipment operator with more than one year of military service, is assigned to the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Training Center at Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville.
Ketcham is a 2009 graduate of Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville.
He is the son of Gerald A. Ketcham, of Murrysville, and Kathy M. Ketcham, of Meadville.
Aaron Bly has been promoted to U.S. Marine lance corporal after recently completing an intelligence training program in Dam Neck, Va.
Bly, a 2010 graduate of Iroquois High School, completed his Marine basic training at Parris Island, S.C., in November.
During basic training, Bly received instruction in Marine history, culture, customs and courtesies, and earned an expert marksmanship badge.
He graduated in December from the Marine Combat Training program at Camp Geiger in North Carolina.
At Camp Geiger, Bly was instructed in combat marksmanship, counter-improvised explosive device techniques, how to conduct the defense of a position, convoy operations, combat formations, fireteam assaults, patrolling, reporting military intelligence and land navigation.
