TV Dumping in Ada County Landfill - KTRV Fox 12

Ada County, Idaho -- The Ada County landfill is preparing for more trash to be dumped there in 2009.

That's when all television programming will be broadcast in digital and not analog. When that happens, some TV watchers may decide to get a converter so they can still use their old sets while others will dump them for a newer model.

Either way, landfill managers say they're ready to handle the increased load in the coming years.

"We've had the big rush before when we first started the program of collecting televisions as part of our household hazardous waste stream," said Ted Hutchinson, Deputy Director of the Ada County Solid Waste Management Department.

Right now, landfill managers say they receive thousands of televisions every year at the dump.
